Rebrandly can really mess up your campaigns. Seriously. I tried using their link shortener and tracking feature for some important PR materials I sent out. One of my contacts reached out to tell me that not only were the links broken, but they were directing to a sketchy expired domain page. I checked it myself, and it was true. What’s worse is that I had verified everything beforehand, and it was all good, but right after I sent out my campaign, the links went kaput.

I’m honestly shocked. It feels like you totally wrecked my PR campaign; I had to redo all the materials, reach out to everyone again, apologize for the hassle, and send them the old, regular links that actually worked. Anyone in PR knows how big of a deal that is.

Sometimes, the old-school, non-trackable, and less flashy options look way better. It was a real tech lesson for me. I ended up deleting all the links and shutting down my account. I doubt I’ll ever use a link shortener and tracker again — just a bummer of a story.

I tried out the free URL shortener to see how it functioned for my own domain and to track the Instagram traffic heading to my shop.

After I set it up in the DNS settings and they took effect, I was shocked to find that my landing page had switched to a Rebrandly page, and there was no option to return to my site.

I signed up for the basic plan at $30 a month, which lets you manage 500 links. The issue I ran into was that if you wanted to tag those links for easy searching, you had to bump up to the $69 monthly plan just to search your own links...that's pretty rough. Plus, if you want to export your data, like saving your links to a CSV file, they give you a custom quote, and mine was almost $1200. The QR code feature is pretty clunky too. Honestly, the only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is that the dashboard looks nice, but if you're just starting with a paid plan, I’d suggest checking out other options first.

So, the support crew at Rebrandly is just fantastic. I ran into a problem with one of my domains, and Erin got in touch with me in no time—like, 4 minutes flat—and sorted it out. Top-notch service!

I dropped $14 for a year, thinking I could use my own domain/link to point to my site. Turns out, you gotta shell out an extra $4 each month for that perk... and it just embeds the site instead of actually redirecting.

My link got blocked simply 'cause I was using free hosting. No discussions whatsoever, but they sure wasted my time with questions about my job title and other stuff that didn’t really matter.

The service is just plain unreliable. After a weekend outage, I found support was nowhere to be found in a timely manner. They took an extra business day to get back to me, which meant another day of serious problems. Of course, the robotic nature of their replies only made things worse. In the end, we had to switch vendors, and it cost us a pretty penny!

Both the desktop and mobile versions of the site are terrible.

The process for creating new links is frustratingly designed, as it replaces the input before you can take any further steps.

Customer service? What customer service? All the responses seem automated and don’t actually address the problem. For instance, when I opened a ticket with all the necessary details, I just got an email asking for the same info again.

I was completely stunned when I was advised to try a different browser since I can't log into my account using Safari. Seriously, don't bother with it; it's just a waste of time!

I've been using Rebrandly since they first launched a few years ago, and I gotta say, I'm a big fan! Their interface is smooth and easy to navigate, packed with tons of useful features - workspaces (which can double as teams), various custom domains, UTM templates, and the option to modify the destination URL... and that's all included in the FREE plan I'm using. The paid plans offer even more goodies!

They offer plenty of features to kick things off at no cost, with even more available if you decide to pay. I reckon there are several extra features they could introduce to enhance its usefulness, but honestly, you get a ton with minimal effort for free. So, in my view, it's an absolute essential for anyone in digital marketing.
